Is the Cyprus presidency logo a copy?

THE CYPRUS EU PRESIDENCY LOGO
A few weeks ago, Cyprus revealed the official logo of the country's Presidency of the European Union Council. It was chosen among many other designes in a private competition. Now it seems the logo, presented at the newly renovated ‘Cypress Media Centre’ in Nicosia was not completely original. A design very similar to this has been made before.
The ship’s hull was made in the shape of a dove reflecting to the emblem of the Republic of Cyprus. It was chosen among many in a competition and the winning logo was designed by a well known design company in Cyprus. The winner was awarded by €6000.
The possibility of the logo not being original was revealed by social media. The design was originaly available at photography and artwork website ShutterStock. It is still possible to find, but it cannot be downloaded anymore. It is not certain if the company used a logo from this website, but the similarity is obvious.
“Today a ship hoists the sails and steers towards a new journey having as destination the heart of Europe,” said Deputy Minister for EU Affairs Andreas Mavroyiannis during the revelation of the logo.
As for the upcoming presidency, despite the political problems that Cyprus is facing, it vows to "act as a truly fair and honest broker, as a responsible member state contributing in every possible way to furthering European integration, based on the main principles and values of a United Europe."   EUROPE ON LINE
