Italian Elections 24-25 February but will Monti run?

Mario Monti, the Italian Prime Minister had said quite clearly that once the Italian budget was passed he would resign; it passed on December 20 and he resigned that same evening.
His resignation has fixed a date for the next Italian elections and already sent a buzz throughout European economic markets and politics in so far as what happens if Monti doesn't run for political candidature.
Awaiting his statements at a press conference being held momentarily in Rome, the last political press conference of the year speculations vary between his announcing a political campaign, or announcing a 100 day plan for another to take up.
Mario Monti replaced the former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi as a technocrat,  equipped to deal with the economic crisis in Italy. He had said he was not interested in politics but certain Italian businessmen have been heaving their support behind him seeing him as the only solution for 2013.
At the press conference held on Sunday 23 December broadcast live from Rome and causing atwitter storm #Monti the economist or 'Il Proffessore' as he is called in Italy, gave a long discourse outlining what has come to pass since his acceptance of the position of Prime Minister and his resignation.
He said that Italy was able to continue through the financial crisis without needing to resort to foreign aid, it was still in need of reforms for example in terms of its labour policies and amongst other points he did not exclude the possibility of being the next Prime Minister of Italy if someone takes up his policies and asks him to lead on them.                               new europe on line
